Join a beginner’s session to learn grafting techniques from the Urban Garden Center Master Gardeners. This workshop will present the basics of grafting and hopefully allow you to start grafting your own cultivars. All participants will be able to practice on and take home one plant; either a citrus, an avocado, or a hibiscus rootstock. However, due to limited numbers of available root stocks, there is a possibility that participants might not receive their first preference. 8:30 - 9:30 am: Classroom lecture.9:30 - 10:30 am: Hands-on practice of grafting techniques10:30 - 11:00 am: Plant sale of assorted grafted trees.UGC Guidelines: Registration required. All guests must sign a UGC consent waiver upon arrival. UGC entry gate will open at 8:15 am. Bring drinking water. Food will not be for sale. Wear appropriate outdoor attire: closed toe shoes and a hat.The restrooms will be open during the event hours.The gardens are closed to self-tours. Only guide dogs are allowed. No pets allowed.UGC follows UH COVID-19 policies. Face masks are optional. It is strongly recommended that participants stay home when feeling ill, whether with COVID-19 or other illness, to recover and prevent community spread.Due to the nature of the workshop and use of sharp implements, we highly recommend that minors under the age of 18 years of age do not attend.
