This is a 6-week course for beginners, I tend to lean towards using a mechanical pencil or sketching with pencil to help you get started for the first class. This class isn't just about learning to draw a face, it's about helping you the artist learn to find your signature features in drawing the face using pencil, soft pastel, etc. Here is a sample of the syllabus, each week there will be time allotted for drawing during the class. Class 1: Determining what each student would like to get out of the class as far as skill level and type of drawings. Understanding that I am not teaching realism but hot to better identify each individual's style, skill level and preferences and helping them to develop and enhance those preferences to draw face that they would enjoy drawing. Your signature or way to draw a face.Learning about various papers that people use to draw using pencils, charcoal, soft pastel, mixed media. How they help to manipulate the drawing tools used. I will be providing the various examples for this class to help the student study and determine which type they prefer to use. I will also recommend books and information for further review. However, due to the limited time of the class we will use either black Cranson paper or white mixed media paper. 11x14 or 9x12 is preferred.Class 2: Introduction to Rembrandt soft pastels. How to use them to blend on paper. How to hold a pencil to shade and much more.Class 3: Positioning of the face, and your body in drawing, learning how to do it and why.Class 4: Examples of drawing faces from the left side, the right side, and down. Learning to choose an angle that will help you to identify your favorite way to draw a face. Class 5: Keep it simple, learning where the student's weak spots are and helping them to determine those areas and how to improve. The student can choose the media and bring it to the class. Pencil, soft pastel, etc.Class 6: Reviewing the progress within the class, combining what they have learned and what they have improved upon. Putting it all together and displaying their work to the rest of the class.
