The inaugural KSU Detroit Alumni Chapter Jazz Show is among the first in a series of events to provide scholarships to Metro-Detroit high school students, and is expected to attract over 600 people to attend.
As a fundraiser, the Jazz Show positively impacts the community by providing scholarships to local high school students who will attend HBCUs, as well as to current HBCU students from the Detroit-Metropolitan area. In both cases, this paves the way for a bright collective future.
The Jazz Show kickstarts fundraising efforts for our upcoming marque event the "HBCU Motor City Roundball Classic" which will bring HBCU basketball teams to Detroit, and with them HBCU alumni, sports enthusiasts, and fans, for a weekend tournament. The classic, held in continued support and celebration of HBCUs is slated for fall 2023.
The Jazz Show features accomplished performing artists: Benny J. Smith, Sandra Bassett, Daryl Beebe, and headliner, Randy Scott.
