Description

Our topic for this month’s Operation Pollination program is the harvest. We will discuss the ecosystem services pollinators provide that allow for foraging and useful native plants that produce shared habitat. We will be joined by local herbalist Summer McCreless, who will be sharing native plant samples and will lead us in making tea samplers of the plants discussed to take home. The program will be held from 9-10AM at the Indian Mound Museum in Florence. Operation Pollination is an initiative to educate on the benefits of bees, other pollinators, and conserving shared habitat through short lessons and hands-on experiences. Educational programs occur quarterly at the Indian Mound Museum, while trail work days to conserve native habitat occur on the first Saturday of each month at the TVA Reservation’s Native Plant Garden in Muscle Shoals. All events are free and open to all ages. Youth are especially encouraged to attend.
