Description
Come on people. Let "In Lieu of Flowers" enjoy their band, the clubs, playing out, people liking them, getting paid what "they" consider good money and most of all, their lives. Too many musicians got a hair across their asses about the music scene in RI. If it doesn't work for you, go somewhere else. I believe you think WAY to highly of yourself that you deserve more than what club owners give. All the work put into your playing is the cost of enjoying music and becoming a good musician. I'm surprised you didn't complain about how many times a month you have to wipe your ass and not be compensated. You are definitely missing the point in being a musician. It's not about you Mr/Mrs. Superstar. It's about the music and bringing joy to people that have worked hard all week and want to have a good time. I will say that most bands out there aren't very good, but that's not the point. If it works for the band, the club and the patrons, well isn't that all that matters. Try to turn YOUR situation into something more positive and enjoy the fact that you are able to bring happiness and joy into someones life through music. You don't know what others are going through in their lives. You sound insensitive, petty, unhappy, immature and regretting a choice you made as a musician. MUSIC IS NOT ABOUT YOU, IT'S ABOUT SPREADING LOVE in whatever degree you can give. NOW!!! Stop complaining and get out there and make music and people happy. If you change your attitude, you'd be surprised how more joy will come to you. Good luck.
By the way. As a man in his 60's and overweight having a hard time finding a band BECAUSE of my age and weight NOT my ability to play, (and I'm a pretty damn good musician) I won't stop trying and I don't hold it against those who want what they want. Life's too short. Be happy.
Sorry if I come across as a preacher. To me, it just makes sense.
