Led by medical field experts and arts practitioners, the USC Darwin Pubhouse is a series of discussions that explore the impact of theater, creativity, and exercise upon cognitive health.
Hosted by USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance professor Patrick Corbin, the Dance and Ability panel will feature dancers with Parkinson’s disease and guests who explore the intersection of dance, health, and community from fields of study including neuroscience, gerontology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, dance therapy, dance research, and medicine. Speakers include Brian Elerding, Hilary Thomas, and Amy Carlson from the Lineage Performing Arts Center, whose Dance for Joy series of classes that promotes mind-body connectivity and socialization through the arts; David Leventhal from Mark Morris Dance Group’s Dance for PD program; Leah Antonellis from Middlesex University in London; and USC professors Rebecca Cunningham, Marisa Hentis, Michael Jackowec, Giselle Petzinger, and John Walsh. Food and beverages will be served.
