Description
I'm an 59 year-old drummer, looking for a new musical project. My interests are 60's psychedelic pop, 70's experimental rock, arty post-punk, 80's avant-rock, and incorporating droning / modal or Middle Eastern / Indian / Eastern European music into a rock band setting. I love combo organs and instruments played through too many effect pedals. I'd also be interested in working with people who play instruments that aren't conventional in a rock band (e.g., harpsichord, saz, bouzouki, hurdy gurdy, viola, sitar) as long as they're amplified so that they can be heard above an acoustic drum kit without distorting. Some music I like: The Beatles, especially '66 - '68 Pink Floyd, especially with Syd Barrett The Small Faces 60's French pop (Françoise Hardy, Jacques Dutronc, France Gall) The 13th Floor Elevators The United States of America The Zodiac: Cosmic Sounds Kevin Ayers Turkish psych (Selda, Erkin Koray) Brian Eno David Bowie, especially Station to Station through Scary Monsters and Blackstar The Dukes of Stratosphear Robyn Hitchcock Dog Faced Hermans Tone Dogs Iva Bittova Broadcast Stereolab My favorite contemporary artists are ГШ / Glintshake from Russia and Gaye Su Akyol from Turkey. There are some directions I don't want to go, such as metal, blues, country, jazz, punk, jam bands, prog, and cover or tribute bands. About me: I'm a groove player with a strong R&B influence. I'm also happy digging into a motorik/Krautrock beat. Most of my past projects have been 60's garage-pop, power pop or improv/experimental. I have a good kit and mostly reliable transportation. The bad news is that I live in an apartment and don't have a practice place of my own. If you're coming from a similar musical place as I am, please send me an e-mail and let me know how the kind of music I'm interested in doing fits in with what you're doing. If you have some recordings of your music online, please send me a link. I can send you links to videos of the last project I was part of. If you don't share any of my musical interests and are just looking for a drummer, then, sorry, I’m not the guy. I genuinely wish you the best of luck finding the right person.
