Any idea how to print on foil paper?

I got a piece of foil paper from Kelly Paper. It has a choice of gold foil or silver, not a solid reflective surface but light black patterns. I want to print a picture of a car on it. But my supposition is--if I put the car on white paper and put the foil paper in the printer it will come out as a car with white background losing the chance for the foil to show its beauty. So I theorize I have to cut the car out, glue it on some transparent piece and have that copied onto the foil. But if I am wrong it could damage the machine. What I want is the foil background around the car. The paper is called Ecofoil Digital. That' a picture printed on it shown, not my work.
