It seems as though some group of people with a bit of power in Portland thought it was a good idea to switch the crosswalks so they blink when there are vehicles approaching too quickly through an area.
Great idea in theory but I can’t be the only one that has seen the potential for Portland drivers to develop a “boy who cried wolf” mentality towards crossing lights.
If it’s always flashing when I approach, why stop? Why bother looking for a pedestrian when it’s only flashing because I’m speeding? I see this going very badly..
Not justifying high speeds, but this isn’t making people slow down; they just stop paying attention to the warning signals.
