ISO small breed puppy to fill our broken hearts

We just lost our 4 year old baby (dog) after a 2 week fight to save her. Went to the vet almost daily after we learned she was severely anemic. Had a blood transfusion done and things began to look better when her packed cell volume went up. But a few days later it bottomed out again. Now we have a hole in our hearts that we desperately need to fill with a new companion. He/she will be loved and cared for as if she was our baby. Trying to find a small breed that isn't too expensive or too old. Our funds are a bit low after all the vet bills for our last baby but we still would still have it seen by the vet immediately to get any shots or worming done that would be needed. Praying someone reads this and helps to heal the holes in our hearts that only a puppy can fill
