The Modus LED allows customers to set the mood with any color of the rainbow spectrum by remote or application using their mobile phone. Their 8' and 10' trees include an Eero Saarinen-inspired tulip stand, a sputnik tree topper, glass bulb ornaments, crystal prisms, and more. Customers can also customize their trees with various ornament selections. Founder Matthew Bliss was inspired by his grandfather, Lawrence "Bud" Stoecker, when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's to bring his idea to life. Stoecker, who built A-Frame cabins throughout the Rocky Mountains from the 1960s to the 1980s, designed a family tree to reflect his modern style and to serve as a timeless centerpiece to the holidays like The Modern Christmas Tree. Since its launch, Modern Christmas Trees was featured on ABC's hit show Shark Tank, which grabbed the attention of Barbara Corcoran who invested in the company. Modern Christmas Tree has been featured in national publications, including Architectural Digest, Entrepreneur Magazine, and Fast Company. The company has also gathered the likes of Hollywood's Film and TV industry and has been featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Netflix, Cadillac commercials, and at the Disneyland Hotel.
