What is Hilltopia ??Hilltopia is about hope and overcoming, regardless of the obstacles. Hilltopia means, “A Utopia found only in the soil and Indigenous people of the Hilltop”. Struggle and adversity, continued injustice and inequity, have become anthems for many who have lived on the Hilltop in Tacoma, Washington. Yet Our Phoenix of Confidence is embodied and revealed !!! Each year, The Reel Hilltopia Film Festival will offer a visual and emotional experience what life looks like, good, bad, or indifferent through eyes of our community. Each year, the film festival will encourage a larger audience to participate with films and artistic expression from their cultures and perspectives. Culture is about being human not about race; everyone is invited to contribute and share in the joy of relationship and healing. The Reel Hilltopia Film Festival is a family and community event, but we recommend parental guidance and the presence of a Parent/Guardian/designated adult at all times for minors.
