This year marks the 150th anniversary of Scriabin's birth. During the short period before his death at the young age of 43, Scriabin's style underwent a dramatic transformation, from his early works, which have been described as late Romantic, through his middle period, when he developed more originality, to his late period, when he became devoted to theosophy and established his own mysticism.
In this concert, the program is arranged chronologically, beginning with the early Romantic works and ending with Sonata No. 5, a monumental work that stands at the watershed between the end of the middle period and the late period, when he turned to mysticism.
