Description

Red, White & Blue at BRQ “Sip & Salute” Charity Cocktail Challenge & Cochon d’Lait November 10, 2022 6pm - 10pm Hosted by the Greater Baton Rouge Chapter of United States Bartenders Guild It can take a village to help our U.S. veterans readjust to civilian life after the trauma of combat deployment. In that spirit this year’s Red, White and Blue will pair 5 veteran ROOKIE bartending competitors with 5 local professional bartenders to create teams to compete in our annual cocktail competition. Our chosen charity for 2022, is Acadiana Veteran Alliance. AVA’s Heal Program provides grants to veterans for them to receive Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS). These injections cost $1500, and are not covered by insurance. SGB and follow-up efforts help veterans suffering from PTS to eliminate or greatly reduce their symptoms in order to increase daily functioning and improve overall quality of life. Since the inception of the AVA’s Heal Program they have treated 24 veterans. Our goal this year is to provide funding for 15 more SGB treatment grants. Our “Rookie” Vet competitors and their “Shadow” Pro teammates will each create a signature Veteran’s Day Cocktail from our generously donated sponsored spirits. Our contest will be judged by 5 honored veterans and by crowd participation. You can support by purchasing cocktail sampling tickets - which includes a vote - and/or purchasing cochon de lait dinner tickets. ALL funds raised will go directly to AVA. Advance discount combination tickets (food and drinks) are now available on Eventbrite. Full price tickets are available at the door. You can also help support our effort by becoming a sponsor. The event will take place at BRQ in their backyard patio. BRQ is recognized as the ONLY veteran-owned restaurant in the Capital City. U.S. Army veteran Justin Ferguson, whose military career included two tours in Iraq, returned home to open his award-winning establishment. Justin and his partners have selflessly volunteered their time, staff, and facility to help celebrate ALL of our troops, and to raise money for a fantastic charity! Charles Hanagriff of Guaranty Media will act as our Master of Ceremonies.
