Join UL Press at 6 PM on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at the Capitol Park Museum for a book talk and Q&A with professor Carol McMichael Reese, author of A. Hays Town and the Architectural Image of Louisiana. Featuring color photography by Philip Gould and Town’s architectural drawings, the book traces the evolution of the architect’s career, including his work on the Historic American Building Survey, his award-winning Modernist designs, and his later houses that came to define Louisiana’s residential architecture. This work accompanies an exhibition that originated at the Hilliard Art Museum at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2018. (The Town exhibition has since traveled to other venues.) Carol Reese has published numerous works, including Paul Cret at Texas, an award-winning study of university planning and architectural representation, The Architect’s Sketchbook, a study of imaging techniques in contemporary architectural practice, and, as a co-author, Object, Image, Inquiry, a study of the working methods of art historians published by the Getty Information Institute. She has collaborated on projects related to architecture all over the world.
