Objectives 1. Identify maternal risk factors and implications for the fetus and newborn. 2. Describe physiologic changes/observations that define readiness and success of extra-uterine adaptations. 3. Determine risk factors for hypothermia, hypoglycemia, and hyperbilirubinemia and establish a plan of preventative care. 4. Describe the process for a systematic, head to toe newborn physical examination. 5. Apply critical thinking process for nursing care plan development based on various common and uncommon physical assessment findings.
