Join the Northwest African American Museum in Spokane, WA on November 11 for our Descendants Series featuring Bruce Turner, the great-great-great grandson of Nat Turner moderated by Kiantha Duncan.
Bruce Turner was born in Southampton County, VA in the town of Drewyville. Both his mother and father were born, raised, and educated in Southampton County as well. He spent most of his childhood living in Southampton County whereby he received an abundance of information on the Nat Turner legend from Grandparents, Great Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles. Turner's lineage to Nat Turner is a great, great, great grandson, through his father.
Since the mid 1990s, Bruce has devoted serious research and investigation into the history of Nat Turner, and the Southampton Slave Insurrection of 1831. He has given particular attention to developing a profile of Nat Turner that is to provide in-depth knowledge about him as a man, a preacher, an intellectual, and a liberating rebel.
The Northwest African American Museum presents this hybrid program to be held on Friday, November 11 | 6:00PM | Spokane, WA | John J. Hemmingson Center on the campus of Gonzaga University as well as live on NAAM's YouTube channel.
