Description

Okay! So, I am rehoming my mother in laws 9 month old American labrador retriever. The reason being, her health is rapidly declining and cannot be home to take care of the dog anymore. This dog was gifted to her after her other dog passed away. She is AKC but we have not been able to find her paperwork. She is not spayed yet! Mom said her breeder suggested to let her have her first cycle and then get her spayed. (I’ve never heard of that, so I’m sure she can be fixed before then) Some things about her. She is a very very sweet girl. Where mom was doing relatively well when she got her, she was immediately socialized around other dogs and had started formal training but things took a turn pretty quickly and mom was in and out of the hospital and the training came to an end, the socialization came to an end. Mia (this dog) became scared. Her confidence kind of diminished. Shes so scared of most things now that she’s been taken out of my moms house. She’s lost and confused. SHE NEEDS SOMEONE WILLING TO WORK WITH HER, be kind and gentle and easy and willing to snuggle, it makes her feel safe. She’s been staying with my family and dogs for a week now and trying to get her used to the norm again. My mom always said she was a little food aggressive but would never do more than a little bark if her other dog came near. That is true! She does better with feeding away from other dogs, she’s a messy eater and a fast eater so I purchased a special bowl to slow down her eating. Her favorite thing in the world is food.. so you gotta be careful to not over feed, she will eat a whole bag if you let her. I would love to keep her but I cannot. We have a full house already, 3 dogs and 2 kids and 2 cats 😅 she’s never once shown aggression past food. She loves to snuggle on the couch any chance she can get. She’s not thick and chunky, she’s lean and long and fit. (English vs American labs) She’s been great with my older kids (6/8) but she does JUMP on them. I for the life of me cannot get her to stop jumping on the kids and they hate it. She does not jump on me or my husband. So beware of that if you have younger children. She barks, mainly only outside. Shes barked once inside the house because my neighbor was in the backyard getting her kids and she had nooo idea who she was. She’s a great alert dog, one of my older labs is also an alert dog, nothing gets past them! She doesn’t like to stay outside longer than to do her business, and that’s it. She is house trained and crate trained. She is up to date on vaccinations, she would always text my husband pictures at the vet, I cannot find any of that paperwork either right now and mom isn’t in a state well enough to communicate. She will come with treats, toys, a ton of food, leash, collar, harness, a dog blanket from our home so she knows the scent. The rehoming fee is $250, thank you so much.
