Who else is aging and tired but wants to play old indie rock songs?

Description

You know how it is, I was in bands that practiced regularly and wrote songs and played shows around the city, but now I'm in my 40s and have kids and don't have the time or mental space to be in a "real" band any more. However, I'd still like to meet other people who are in similar situations with similar interests and hang out and play music sometimes. I'm not opposed to playing originals, but for a more casual, social project like this it might make more sense to focus on learning other people's songs. I like a lot of different kinds of music, but my background is primarily indie rock/punk/alternative and that's really all I have the technical skill for anyways. I'm not really interested in playing "classic rock," sorry. I play guitar and can sing a bit but am happy to slide over to bass if that's what's needed. The goal here is to have fun, meet cool new people, try to maintain or possibly grow our musical skills through practice, wallow in nostalgia, and have more fun. I am not concerned with how great you are at your instrument - beginners are welcome. Philosophically you might call this a "dad band" but I am not calling it that because I have no interest in excluding people who identify as women, people who don't have kids, or anyone, really. I do not have a practice space, so we will either need a basement or an hourly rehearsal space to actually play music. Send me an email if you're interested.
