Description
Meet Ronin! We rescued him over the summer from a hi-kill shelter in NM. We had his DNA done and he's mostly herding breeds and therefore pretty smart. Housebroken and very trainable. He was picked up as a stray so we don't know much other than what we have learned over the last two months. No known health problems. Loves to run. Obeys commands. Would be a great trail buddy as he stays close and comes when called off leash. Weighs about 30lbs. Neutered and up to date on vacinnations.
He's great around other dogs as long as he has met them. He does have some reactive behavior around dogs he doesn't know. Apparently he was picked on by the other dogs in the shelter and has developed some fear of unknown dogs from that. We have had him around friends dogs and he does fine once they have been introduced.
Why are we looking to re-home him? His herding instincts come out around our cats and it has concerned us that we won't be able to train it out of him. He hasn't tried to hurt them but his focus and over attention on them has upset them. He might be fine in a home with a cat who can put him in his place.
I want you to know that I really like this dog. We have time to find him the right home. Currently he is living with me in our Salida house while my wife is at our Denver house with the cats. I will be happy to have anyone interested come meet him. Please give me a shout out with some information about you and your situation.
Reasonable rehoming fee.
My name is Stephen.
