It’s that time of year again, so mark your calendars for Empty Bowls: Sat. Nov. 19 - 9am-5pm Cascade Hall (Red Gate) Oregon State Fairgrounds Join Willamette Art Center, Capitol Woodcarvers & Willamette Valley Woodturners to purchase handcrafted bowls by local artists to help feed the hungry in our community. Coffee • The Grand Hotel • Oregon State Fair • Salem Electric • Salem Health For more information, visit: www.willametteartcenter.com/event/empty-bowls/ For over a decade, the Willamette Art Center has worked in partnership with Marion Polk Food Share to raise money to help feed the hungry in our community. For the art center, it is a year-long process of volunteers coordinating the event and creating handmade bowls that will be available for purchase where proceeds will help provide the funds needed to feed our hungry neighbors (Every $1 provides 3 meals). Last year the art center donated $27,000 to the Marion Polk Food Share. This year, along with the Capitol Woodcarvers & Willamette Valley Woodturners, over 1,500 bowls have been made. With the sale of bowls, along with a raffle and silent auction of local artists’ artwork at the event, we are on track to exceed our contribution from the previous year.
