Description

While you're browsing through local vendors at the Vizcaya Village Farmers Market, stop in at the Farm Quad for a hands-on family activity to make seed bombs and support the pollinators critical to a healthy ecosystem. Once you're done, you can take your seed bombs home and drop them in your neighborhood or backyard and watch your work blossom. This activity is first-come, first-served. While supplies last. Why Pollinators? According to the USDA Forest Service: It is an essential ecological survival function. Without pollinators, the human race and all of earth's terrestrial ecosystems would not survive. Of the 1,400 crop plants grown around the world, i.e., those that produce all of our food and plant-based industrial products, almost 80% require pollination by animals. Why Seed Bombs? Seed bombs are a unique and fun way to share a powerful message about the environment. It's important to learn about pollinators and their role in the environment, but it's also important to have fun ... and get a little messy in the process! NOTE: This is a free drop-in activity. Available while supplies last. Does not include admission to the museum and gardens on the east side of the property.
