What you can expect from each session: Normal Aging vs. Dementia This session dispels myths about aging and uncovers real indicators of dementia. Participants will learn about the differences between normal age-related changes in the body and brain and changes associated with Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias Understanding a Person’s Reality This helps the caregiver understand the changes in sensory data collection and how these changes affect the daily life of the individual living with dementia. Communication Communication teaches the caregiver tips for positive communication between the person living with dementia and the caregiver, friends, and family. Learn how creative communication can help to navigate frustrating situations. Challenging Behaviors The final part of this series combines effective communication skills and empathetic caregiving to understand the why behind dementia-related challenging behaviors. Caregivers will learn how to prevent challenging behaviors through positive emotion and how communication techniques can diffuse tension. Limited Seating.
