Please join Meg Heather Ford, Certified Doula and trained acupuncturist, and Kelly Dungan, RN, BSN, RNC-OB, SpBT, for a two day workshop offering in depth discussion and hands on skills to explore the future of perinatal nursing.
Day 1 will focus on personal, professional and cultural aspects of birth work, covering topics from revisiting the nurses code of ethics/holistic nursing theory, looking at birth through the lens of transformation, working with and without birth doulas, trauma informed care and the importance of self care for birth workers.
Day 2 will focus on specific skills designed to support physiologic birth in a medical setting from exploring mindset and environment, breathing techniques, visualizations, and acupressure points. We will look at ways to track a labor and explore relevant coping and communication techniques.
