This year's Undergraduate Formation Session: Discernment will be led by Mr. John Lajiness. During this time, you'll have the opportunity to learn about the practice and history of discernment, while making connections with fellow classmates. Discernment is a vital part of the Christian life and is pertinent to your studies here at the seminary. This session will not only equip you with the necessary knowledge to better discern in your own life but also to apply it to your efforts in ministry and evangelization. Check-in and continental breakfast will open at 8:30 a.m. and the presentation will begin at 9 a.m. *Students pursuing the following degrees are required to attend all three Undergraduate Formation sessions at least once during their program: Basic Diploma in Catholic Theology, Basic Diploma in Music Ministry, Associate of Arts in Ministry Degree, and Pastoral Theology Major.* Register now - spots are limited! He and his wife Michelle have been married for 21 years, and have four children. While caring for his "domestic church," John has been serving the Church for over 23 years in youth ministry, catechesis, evangelization and pastoral ministry on both the parish and diocesan levels. Most recently he spent 8 years as the Pastoral Associate at St. John Vianney Parish in Shelby Township, and is now the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. John's educational formation includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, a Master of Arts in Theology also from Sacred Heart, and studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Beyond the realms of ministry, John's passions include music as a vocalist and composer and cooking for family and friends. John also is a registered Tim Horton’s coffee addict, a suffering golfer, a passionate Michigan fan and sports enthusiast.
