Captive born eastern river cooters. These turtles get massive, with females getting up to a foot or more in length. They are not suit for living in tanks their entire lives, but for rearing. They thrive in ponds, are cold tolerant, and are extremely personable. These guys are predominantly herbivores; feeding on aquatic vegetation such as duck weed, water hyacinth, frog bit, and waterweed. They also eat weeds such and dandelion greens, and even leaves off of trees such as white hibiscus. They'll occasionally eat protein such as snails, fish, crayfish etc. A smooth shell is what to strive for. Uvb lighting, tank heater, filtration, and basking lights are essential, along with a balanced and varied diet with feeding every other day.
