"I've told the truth and you know it and when the truth becomes profound then we are really in big trouble." .............................I read your post and I believe that you are telling the truth..... as you see it....with one exception. You're not an independent. You're clearly a conservative and perhaps that has jaded your perceptions. I suspect you grew up in a rural area or perhaps the suburbs of some predominantly white city. In this respect you would have been sheltered from most of the woes this nation experienced in your childhood. I had the same experience as you but what I couldn't see, were the big issues impacting society. The news wasn't made up of "Alternative" truths and Walter Cronkite told it like it was, but hey we were kids. World news was not on the radar. The rest of America was dealing with: Jim Crowe laws, segregation, red lining...legalized discrimination! Truth be told, crime was often worse than we've experienced so far in the 21st century but I didn't see it and apparently, neither did you, but it was there. It's always been there. Mob families still flourished openly....not like today where they incorporate so all you see is a big business. It's hard to tell when they are robbing you blind with unseen monopolies, price fixing and price gouging simply because they have the government in their back pocket. Oil Co.s, Big Pharma, Major Banks etc. You see a changing world that seems much worse today than it was during your childhood but, in truth, you are simply longing for the sheltered innocents of youth. You can't go back but you can open your eyes to the real truth...not the one you thought was truth.
