The Y-NOW Mentoring Program is a 10 month mentoring program for youth ages 11-15 with a parent who is/was incarcerated. The program aims to teach the youth life skills that they will use to break the cycle of incarceration seen by many of their families. We are proud to say that after 15 years of classes 90% of the program's graduates have remained out of the criminal justice system. This program wouldn't work without volunteers, they make this program possible. If you're interested in volunteering then we can set up a phone call to talk more about volunteering and I'll tell you how to sign up.
The next class will be starting with a retreat in spring 2020 (around April). The retreat is the kickoff to the program and over the weekend where we build the community that will meet over the next 10 months. After retreat, the program begins the follow through portion of Y-NOW. Over the next 10 months mentors will meet with their mentee weekly either one-on-one or at one of the Thursday group meetings there are usually held every other Thursday at Safe Place from 6-8:30pm (this counts as a weekly meet up). We have other volunteer needs besides mentoring but we always need mentors the most.
