Description
We are back in-person for an exciting, educational, and motivating morning where we hear from three amazing women speakers (all three are also doctors!) who focus on bringing us information that is designed for women in business! Kicking off our morning, will be Dr Lusharon Wiley with a presentation called: I've Got Spirit! A fun, self-reflection on spirit and soul and how it aligns for inner peace. As Vice President of Corporate Culture at Innisfree Hotels, a Florida-based hotel management, marketing and development company, Dr. Lusharon is responsible for managing the company’s culture practices and providing expertise and support in the areas of employee engagement and retention, diversity and inclusion, culture training and navigating difference. Lusharon worked at the University of West Florida where she founded a number of organizations and participated in multiple inclusion and diversity groups during her long and successful career. Among the programs she founded are the Military Connections program in recognition of the service of veterans and their families, and the Inclusion Spotlight, a program highlighting the accomplishments of diverse people in the community. She is also the founder of the Argo Pantry, a service that focuses on making sure University of West Florida students always have access to food and personal care items. Lusharon is committed to making a difference in her community where she serves as a Board Member of the WSRE-TV Foundation Board, Board member of Pensacola Escambia Development Commission (PEDC), and is a founding member of the Equity Project Alliance (EPA). Next on stage, will be Dr Erin Mayfield with a presentation called: Food is Powerful: How working women can heal our bodies and fuel us from within. Dr Erin is Board-certified in Lifestyle Medicine and obstetrics/gynecology, and disability examiner (caring for men and women) with 38 years of experience working as a physician in Covington, GA. She recently earned her Chef Coaching certification from Harvard University. After retiring from traditional medicine, Dr Erin founded Lifestyle Medicine Wellness and Recovery which provides many services including wellness medicine, coaching through lifestyle and habit changes, meditation & stretching, nutrition, meal Planning, cooking classes, culinary medicine, and pilates. Dr Erin's personal statement: It has always been my passion to work with patients on their journey to health! I love everything about nutrition, fitness, sleep health, stress management and thriving relationships. I started my own journey as a nursing major in college, where the ideas for taking care of the “whole patient” were born. Later as a pre-med major, I fell in love with osteopathic medicine for the same reasons: commitment to care for the patient in a holistic way, instead of focusing treatment on one disease process. The philosophy followed me into my private practice of 30 years, caring for women of all ages. Our keynote will be presented via live stream from Ft Worth, TX by Dr Suzanne Castle: Giving Up Your Seat on the Burnout Bus: The heart & mind connection to create and sustain joy. Happiness is one of life's simplest concepts, yet it's sometimes difficult to come by. And if your mindset is full of muck, then, the simple fact is that our biz work will be mucky, too, and before long, our heart hurts with the tiredness of living. This session will help you discover actionable, daily strategies to reset your joy through mindshifts and heart hacks so that you can begin to release your seat on the burnout bus. She’s been called a human confetti cannon– and Former professional entertainer, writer, speaker, creator, and coach, Suzanne Castle’s desire is to call to life the creative spirit in herself and others - to invigorate and honor artists and creatives as they lend their essential vision to the way we see the world. Her road, like that of most artists, has been neither straight nor narrow. Her own sparkle factor has had to sustain the complexities of loss, disappointment, reinvention, and time. Recapturing the glimmer in her soul has taken years of patient practicing, sometimes failing, sometimes stubbornly repeating the simplest truth – staying stuck is never the solution. Suzanne returns again and again to the spark in a room full of dreamers. The possibility, the presence and crackle of that magical rewriting of what could be, is the zing that keeps her creative spirit alive. It is her joy to foster this space for others, through one-on-one coaching, group retreats and events, speaking engagements, and stargazing. Suzanne connects the constellations of her own winding story to draw us closer to the creative spirit shining within us all. Following her keynote, Suzanne will lead a panel discussion featuring a few of our Powerful Women members who are also currently enrolled in our Spark Your Power program. This program is a six-month small group coaching program for women leaders who are ready to unleash goodness and joy and life and moxie back to the world. We partnered with Suzanne as our executive coach to create this program which is only open to members of Powerful Women and helps create inspiration in your life and business to keep you ignited so you can attain your extraordinary dreams without selling out a sustainable existence! We launched our first class of 20 participants in June 2022 and we will be spotlighting a few of those members on stage! The application process is already open for our next Spark Your Power class to start in January. We limit these classes to only 20 people and there is a program charge and other requirements. If you are interested in getting on the wait list before it fills up, you can access the application here Powerful Women is known in this area for some amazing networking meetings, however, post-pandemic, we realize that to truly fulfill our mission, we have to be known for more than just networking and we have to help women in bigger ways. In 2022, we reemerged with 4 pillars that now are our focus and guideposts to help support women in business. This mini-conference has been carefully designed to work on each of our 4 pillars: Power Pillar: We believe women struggle in business because they don't know how to properly quantify their worth. This shows up as imposter syndrome, lack of confidence, and mindset issues. All 3 of our speakers will cover this in general in their talks and our keynote speaker will really dive deep into this. Wisdom Pillar: We believe women struggle in business because there are too many inaccurate stories of women in business. Social media pressure, work life balance, and hustle culture are examples of false ideals for women in business. We have crafted time into this agenda for some of our women to speak up and courageously tell their real, authentic stories. By doing so, they inspire more women to do the same. Givers Pillar: We believe women struggle in business because mean girls are still real. When we aren't our authentic self, we hold back ourselves and others. By attending this event, we are encouraging you to create and deepen relationships that are business and also personal. Community Pillar: We believe women struggle in business because it's lonely for women in leadership. Having others to share struggles with, be inspired by, and learn from is invaluable. We provide an arena for a diverse, while inclusive community and our attendees will represent diversity at this event. Did you know that one of four professional women left the workforce during the pandemic? During times of crises, the smaller the business, the more quickly they are negatively impacted and the slower they recover. Did you know, solo-employee businesses (of which, the majority are women) suffered the most and more women-owned businesses closed during the pandemic than male-owned? With the gender gap, women in business had limitations, the pandemic just made it that much tougher for women. However, women in business are leading a boom in new business creation with almost half of start-ups in 2021 formed by women. Some of these women are here in our local community and we are here to help them! We have sponsorship levels from $500-$1500 for like-minded businesses that want to help support our mission of promoting, advancing, and improving women in business.
