Direct support professionals, or DSPs, require special certification to administer most medications and treatments.
Category 1 Recertification allows personnel to continue to administer prescribed medications and perform health-related activities as outlined in the DODD's curriculum.
To be eligible to participate in the course and be eligible for recertification, participants must have a Category 1 Certification that is not over 60 days expired and meet the following requirements:
Be employed by a certified DD Agency or be a certified DODD Independent Provider. Be at least 18 years old. Have obtained a High School Diploma or GED. Have the ability to read, write and understand English at a level that is sufficient to pass the course. Meets the criteria for background and registry checks in compliance with OAC 5123:2-2-02. This application is submitted by certified DD Agency or certified DODD Independent Provider (IP’s will submit application along with High School Diploma/GED documentation), which will be verified by the RN Trainer.
1. If the class needs to be cancelled by the instructor, you will be contacted based on the contact information provided on your application. A notification will be sent via email regarding class make-up dates.
2. If you need to cancel or change your reservation, please contact us at 740-507-5384. You cannot send someone else in another individual's place. Any changes or cancellations must be requested to the instructor 2 business days before the start of the class.
3. Refunds will not be provided to those who do not attend the class without following the above policy.
4. ONI reserves the right to deny entrance to participants who arrive late.
