Too often, even the brightest aspirations become clouded by uncertainty and are easily taken off track. Session 2: Navigating Change in the Workplace Erica Ishida, President and Chief Operating Officer, Apple Growth Partners Change is constant in the workplace and it's important to understand how to navigate those changes, or your forward movement will be stalled or derailed. This session will offer you ways to develop engagement approaches and communication strategies to help you work through, rather than against, any challenges. Session 3: All In: Teamwork and Collaboration Jared Daly, Coordinator of Employer Engagement Services, Cuyahoga County Board of DD Working in a team can be challenging at times, but more often it is a great opportunity to uncover creative ideas, share different perspectives and experiences, as well as enhance your own skills. If you treat each group project as a learning experience, you can help foster a more productive team environment. Your desire to learn and your willingness to explore new approaches will make you a better contributor, manager, or leader. Session 4: Complex Problem Solving Lee Ann Cochran, Partner, Amphora Consulting Problem-solving is often a highly desired skill in today's job market. Having the ability to solve complex and simple problems is often an important part of success in many industries and positions. Complex problem-solving involves more steps and considerations than simple problem-solving and understanding these differences may help you successfully develop complex problem-solving skills. In this session, we define complex problem-solving, discuss the key differences between complex and simple problem-solving, and talk about the necessary steps to solve complex problems. Session 5: Balancing Act of a Young Professional Cicely D. Campbell, Director, Women in Transition Program, Cuyahoga Community College Young professionals must balance working to establish themselves in their career with personal priorities such as children/family, friends, hobbies, and community involvement. Learn tips for setting and balancing your priorities. DAY 2 Session 1: Standing Out John Bernatovicz, Founder, Willory Many people in the workforce want their employers to take notice of their hard work. Standing out at work requires dedication and the implementation of key workplace strategies. This session will offer key practices to incorporate into your daily work routine. We explain why this is important, discuss how to stand out at work, list skills that can benefit you and provide more tips for reference. Session 2: Understanding Workplace Communication Karla Wludyga, MPOD, Director of Organizational Development, PRADCO How well do you communicate with others? Even if you’re a master at communication, you could be even better. Enhancing your communication skills is an easy way to give a significant boost to multiple areas of your life. This session will cover hard skills like active listening, nonverbal communication, gaining confidence, and how to be clear in your messaging. Session 3: How to Be an Effective Leader Tracy Messer, Professor, Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University The importance of leadership skills in the workplace is clear. Individuals with great leadership skills empower teams to achieve their full potential, make decisions, and strategize well to help organizations thrive. However, leadership is the sum of many traits, and there are numerous great leadership styles. In this session, we’ll go through the importance of leadership skills in the workplace and how you can maximize your skill set to grow into an effective leader. Session 4: Leveraging Networks and Selling Yourself Marvin Montegomery, Author/Trainer/Motivational Speaker You meet an interesting professional at a conference and file away their business card. You work with a talented group and are sure to connect with everyone on LinkedIn before you move to your next position. Throughout our lives, we meet people who help us learn and grow, both professionally and personally. But how do we ensure we’re nurturing that network, making lasting connections, and promoting ourselves professionally.
