Successful landscaping and tree company based in San Francisco seeks a resourceful, organized and driven individual to assist our office manager and arborists in their day-to-day operations and help keep our warehouse and equipment maintained. This role may require some light physical work in a warehouse setting and/or in the field at times; the ideal candidate will be comfortable with getting their hands dirty occasionally while also having the ability to perform basic administrative assistant and reception duties. Mechanical skills not required. The Urban Arborist has a loyal clientele and has been providing high quality service to the Bay Area for over fourteen years. We were rated Nextdoor's "Neighborhood Favorite" in home and garden services for tree work in San Francisco AND Oakland for 2022. Our online ratings on yelp and google are excellent and most of our work is by referral. We want to bring an individual into the fold who will be a good fit with our culture and who will stay on for a long time and grow with us, moving up the non-corporate ladder and taking on more responsibility. We would prefer not to work with someone who is only looking for a temporary situation. We want an individual that we can put our trust in, invest in, and who will become part of our work family. The goal of this position is to facilitate smooth operations by running errands, performing office and warehouse tasks; tracking supplies inventories, tracking vehicle and equipment maintenance, helping maintain DMV, insurance and safety records as needed, communicating regularly with Office Manager, Operations Manager, Foremen, and Owner. May also entail researching potential project leads and revenue streams, assisting with marketing, equipment research, etc. Ability to create a spreadsheet is a definite plus. If you have demonstrable organizational skills let us know about them. If you just think you're an organized and detail-oriented person, how so? Success here has more to do with a mindset than an exact set of skills. Being flexible, willing to learn, research and dive into problem solving mode, while simultaneously being able to prioritize items that require deep focus and which items can be tabled; these are all skills that should be cultivated and honed in any work setting. We are are not particular when it comes to age; but reliability and some work experience is crucial. Some basic tech literacy is also required. Ability to learn and operate our CRM/digital scheduling and estimating platform, along with various apps that assist us in day to day operations is necessary. Your youthful enthusiasm, as well as your hard earned experience and wisdom will both be valued here. *More details will be provided if requested re CRM, etc., but if you don't use a smartphone and can't type you will be out of your depth. This is a hybrid position that will offer some location-based office work - our office is attached to our warehouse - and some field work (driving, job site delivery and inspections, equipment delivery). Ideal candidate will be able to drive pickup truck and medium duty truck; if you are not familiar with driving larger vehicles but have some experience driving pickup trucks, we can train the right individual. Tasks may include: Assisting with phones and scheduling Obtaining and posting permits Tracking and maintaining tool and equipment inventory Driving vehicles to repairs Assist on jobs as needed, interface with crew and clients Assist with facilitating tailgate safety meetings Misc office and warehouse duties This is an opportunity to grow with a highly respected and growing company and will offer opportunities to learn and improve skills in office and team management, as well as in the industry of arboriculture. Sills that will be universally applicable to any trade industry. - Prior office and/or warehouse experience a plus - A familiarity with trades work, basic knowledge of tools and some mechanical knowledge a plus - Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus - Clean DMV required - Positive attitude required - Self-motivation required - Ability to clarify priorities, organize and problem solve required - Tech fluency; ability to use a laptop, smartphone, spreadsheet, apps and type at least 40wpm. *Some driving at work will be required. We can provide a company pickup truck, or you may use your own vehicle and be reimbursed for mileage + stipend for personal vehicle use at work. A company laptop and cell will be provided.
