In search of a dog

I have an 800 sq ft apartment. i’d like a dog I could take on walks and hikes. An older dog would be fine, and most importantly a dog that is calm and laid-back. No high energy dogs please. We have inside hallways so the dog will have to be fairly friendly and not fight with other dogs and not bark excessively. I live in the downtown area. There is a large patch of grass at the courthouse for peeing and pooping. Yes I scoop of course. I can pay a small rehoming fee. I have been approved for a dog with the apartment so that is not a concern. I work part time and am home a lot.
