In honor of American Indian Heritage Month the South Dakota State University School of American and Global Studies, Wokini, and SDSU Connect, are hosting a free screening of the movie Blood Quantum at the Orpheum Theatre at 7:45 PM. The event will start at 3 pm with a keynote address by Dr. Kim Tallbear on identity, genetic ancestry, and blood quantum. At 6:30 pm, before the film screening, we will have a panel discussion with two of the actors, Michael Greyeyes and Gary Farmer.
Both the reception and film are free and open to the public, but tickets are encouraged.
Synopsis: The dead are coming back to life and almost all of Earth's population are decimated due to a zombie virus, except for the isolated Mi'kmaq reserve of Red Crow, whose indigenous inhabitants who are strangely immune to the zombie plague.
