Description
Clark Fork Coalition is a local organization founded by people like you who were concerned about the river. We’re hosting our annual holiday party under a big outdoor tent next to our offices and we’d love for you to join us. Everyone is invited, from volunteers and donors to the casual, river-loving passerby. On Friday, December 2, we’ll gather to celebrate another successful year of restoring and protecting the Clark Fork River and its tributaries with food, drinks, music and friends. We’ll hear from Clark Fork Coalition executive director Karen Knudsen on why we do this work, and you’ll have a chance to chat with staff and share your own river stories. Note: We’re planning to hold this event outdoors in a heated tent. Dress warmly! If you are feeling at all sick or have been around someone who has COVID, please stay home and watch for more upcoming community events. Want to make a donation with your registration? Minimum suggested donation of $10 helps us cover costs. You can also donate at the event! About Clark Fork Coalition For three decades, the Clark Fork Coalition has worked to restore and sustain the Clark Fork and its tributaries, ensuring it can flow with clean, cold, and abundant waters for generations to come. We are science-based and community-driven, as evidenced by our genesis in 1985: dozens of community members banded together to stop a pulp and paper mill from dumping pollution into the Clark Fork River downstream of Missoula. Since then, we’ve continued to apply scientific, technical, legal, and educational expertise to address the challenges faced by our rivers, as well as to advance the tremendous restoration opportunities now unfolding throughout the watershed. Although the Clark Fork is a hard working river that bears the scars of a legacy of service – toxic mine waste, damaged stream banks, chronic de-watering, disconnected tributaries, and more – it’s decidedly a watershed on the upswing. It’s an exciting time to live, work, and play here.
