Description
I’m available for solo performances at senior facilities, restaurants, wineries, parties and special events, as well as session work and group gigs if your band needs a sub/hired gun for specific shows. Since 2011, I’ve been entertaining on a weekly basis at Alzheimer’s Services of the East Bay in Berkeley, and I’ve also performed at other local senior facilities, including Merrill Gardens at Rockridge, Belmont Village in Albany, Marin Post Acute in San Rafael, Burlingame Chalet and Silverado Memory Care in Berkeley. I was also the house piano player at Oliveto Restaurant and Café in Oakland from June to November 2020 and recently performed at Caffe 817 in Oakland. At my solo performances, I enjoy playing several different genres, including (but not limited to) classic rock, pop, funk, soul, R&B, disco, easy listening and a little bit of jazz and blues. I’m pretty good at reading the room and catering my performances to whatever audience I’m playing for (for example, at my senior performances, I tend to focus mostly on stuff from the 50s through the 70s). In addition to songs that I have memorized, I also now have an extensive collection of over 3000 songs on my iPad that I can go to at any given moment.
I also played in a band (Elusive Groove) part-time from 2019 till this year and can fit into a band situation on a temporary basis for specific gigs, and it helps that I read music. I’m not looking to join a band full time, but I definitely would be happy to help your band out when needed.
