Will County Habitat for Humanity partnered with Ozinga, Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture,
BASF, Logix, as well as several local suppliers to construct an innovative, sustainable duplex utilizing ultra-low carbon
concrete and a new bio-based foam ICF (insulating concrete form) that has near zero embodied carbon.
This will be the first
home in the United States to utilize bio-based foam ICFs, and we anticipate the concrete on this project to be 74% lower in
its Global Warming Potential than a traditional concrete mix.
Community members, volunteers, industry colleagues, local leaders, and media are invited to join us for an Open House
event November 9th from 10AM – 1PM on the project site at 946 Arrowhead Drive, 60421, to celebrate the progress
made and meet the many people and partners who have helped bring this project to life.
The event will feature remarks from
local leaders, a guided hard-hat tour of the duplex, a “block signing ceremony,” and an opportunity to meet and celebrate
with the future Habitat homeowners and their families!
