Instruction will be hands-on and energetic with participants gaining fundamental knowledge of blacksmithing and the necessary tooling for the process. Participants will work by themselves and with a striker as they sculpt a mass of iron into symbolic skulls and forging experiences not soon forgotten. Michael Dillon https://dillonforge.com/, is a very accomplished local artist that shapes metal in all aspects, both as passion and career. Dillon typically works on architectural scales and often employs design, functionality, and sculptural intent as the mainstay of his aesthetic. His skulls employ these same criteria and serve as personal memento mori - giving the perspective that no matter how dire the circumstance, it's all relative and this too shall pass. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Coffee Scoop with Ryan WoodallThis course is designed to take a student with no prior experience and teach them how to create an object of both beauty and utility.
