Free Food Available Action Church will be giving groceries away on Tuesday, October 25th starting at 2PM til 5PM for those in need of food assistance in the home. Households will receive meat, fruit, vegetables, dairy, deli, bakery, and non-perishable items as donations from our vendors and donors allow. PLEASE take time to read the disclaimer on the bottom of this post. 1 box per household and once per month. Bring a picture I.D. if possible. We can not hold items and we do not deliver for the safety of our volunteers. We are located at 707 S. Germantown Rd. East Ridge, TN 37412 We are open the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of each month from 2PM til 5PM. Disclaimer - Some of the food you may receive may be past the best by, sell by, or expiration date. Most non-perishable canned and boxed products are safe to eat long after the date on the container. Refrigerated and frozen foods such as meat, & dairy can be extended if they are handled properly. Once a perishable item is frozen, it doesn’t matter if the date expires — foods kept frozen continuously are safe indefinitely, though the quality slowly deteriorates over time. Perishable items such as meat & dairy items that have thawed after being frozen should stay refrigerated and cooked and consumed 24 to 48 hours in most cases.
