About This Event: The goal of this course is to enable the students to develop an effective interface between the Incident Command / Unified Command and the Emergency Operations Center by applying National Incident Management System principles. Specifically: Examine the role and function of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in providing support to the incident. Focus on the coordination between the Incident Command System (ICS) and the EOC. Course Objectives: Identify potential ICS/EOC interface challenges. Explain key NIMS concepts, command and coordination systems, and structures. Analyze given scenarios to determine commonalities and potential interface issues between ICS and EOCs. Explain the respective roles and interconnectivity of the NIMS command and coordination systems in coordination. Contrast the typical role and functions of the Incident Command and the EOC during emergency operations. Analyze given scenarios to apply ICS/EOC interface concepts. Develop an ICS/EOC interface action plan for your community. Prerequisites (REQUIRED): NOTE: As a first step, register for the class on this site. IS-100.c, "Introduction to the Incident Command System" (IS-100.b will also be accepted); IS-700.b, "National Incident Management System, An Introduction" (IS-700.a will also be accepted); IS-800.d, "National Response Framework, An Introduction" (IS-800.c will also be accepted). And, either: IS-200.c, "Incident Command System for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents" (IS-200.b will also be accepted) ** OR ** IS-2200 "Basic Emergency Operations Center Functions" (You can visit FEMA's Emergency Management Institute to complete these free Independent Study courses.) https://training.fema.gov/is/ Course Length **1** Day (9 hours). (Wed) January 11, 2023 We will meet from 8:00 AM to 5:00pm (30 min lunch). There will be a 45-minute break for lunch. While we do not provide lunch, there are some local restaurants available that include: Taco Time, McDonalds, and Wendy's. Class Size: 25-36 participants Cost: FREE ***Class is being held at the Hibulb Cultural Center.
