Description

Join the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and Department of Planning and Development for a conversation on the Arts & Culture Pillar of We Will Chicago at the Chicago Cultural Center. In July 2022, Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot shared the draft of Chicago's first citywide plan since 1966, created in partnership with neighborhood residents and community leaders. As a 10-year framework to enhance citywide equity and resiliency, the draft plan includes approximately 40 goals and 150 objectives to improve Chicagoans' lives, especially individuals impacted by inequities in health, economic stability, neighborhood livability, and other systemic issues. This session will provide background on the overall planning process and draft plan, as well as provide dedicated time to explore the draft goals and objectives for arts and culture. Attendees will be invited to connect with colleagues in the cultural sector, reflect on the draft, and share feedback to strengthen the final version of the plan. Read the full draft plan, or spend time with the Arts & Culture pillar. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25 from 6pm-7:30pm. Join us from 5:30pm-6pm for refreshments. This event is free, but registration is required. Please register by noon on Monday, October 24. If you have questions after this time, please email [email protected]. Accessibility requests can be made in the registration form or by emailing [email protected]. Please make any accessibility requests by noon on Friday, October 21. Questions? Contact Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events' Amanda Carlson at [email protected]. Learn more about We Will Chicago by visiting wewillchicago.com.
