Preston H. Epps (1888-1982) grew up in Sappony territory in NC. He went to work in a tobacco factory at age 12. At 21, he enrolled in the 7th grade. He graduate Phi Beta Kappa from UNC at 27. In 1938, he began his a 23-year career as a professor at UNC. His grandson, also a life-long educator, will present Epps' amazing story along with the lessons he taught his students. A reception will follow the talk with food from Mediterranean Deli.
