Informed advice needed

So. I've never owned an RV or camper trailer before, but I'm looking into options on getting one. There's someone I know in Nevada that I'm trying to help out of a severely abusive situation. I'm going to be driving out to get her a couple of weeks from now. I want to get an RV or camper for our driveway, that way she has her own space while she re-establishes her life. I want to wire it in to have it come off our houses utilities. Are campers or RV's a better option for this? Is it better to buy through a dealer or from someone in person? Does anyone have recommendations on brands or features? What types of hookups are needed to get the RV/camper fully connected to the home? I'm sort of concerned about plumbing. And finally: What resources do we have locally that might help her get her life back? Mainly thinking about anything with job training, and temp/job placement for women getting out of this sort of situation.
