RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield Public Schools announced Wednesday the appointment of Cory Gillette as the new assistant superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Gillette hails from the Darien Public Schools, where she has worked since 2013, first as a Literacy Program K-12 coordinator then K-5 English Language Arts and Social Studies program director. RPS Superintendent Susie Da Silva cited Gillette's experience with Darien's K-12 curriculum alignment as critical to RPS's programmatic needs. "She has the experience to look at curriculum implementation at the elementary level to inform students' middle and high school success." The district conducted an extensive search, according to a news release on its website, and found Gillette's knowledge of technology, literacy, curriculum, student assessment, and professional development for teachers to be "unparalleled." "If you are seeking an exceptional leader adept at management, data analysis, streamlining systems, and creating rigorous curriculum for all learners, look no further than Cory Gillette," wrote Joan McGettigan, Director of Instructional Technology at the Darien Public Schools. "She has a wealth of experience both inside and outside school systems, which allows her to understand the big picture needs as well as managing the organizational minutiae inherent in large systems. She is a skilled communicator, presenter, and possesses a special talent for making the complicated both relatable and doable. Gillette is persistent, well-organized, intellectually curious, and creative. She is not afraid of challenges and I have seen her successfully time and again tackle the insurmountable with grace and agility." "I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to lead and learn alongside the students, teachers, administrators, staff, and community members in Ridgefield," Gillette said. "I look forward to creating what the 'new normal' will look like with this highly talented group of teachers and administrators. Together, with the students and the community, we can capture the spirit of perseverance, collaboration, and problem-solving that have gotten us through this past year, to guide us as we prepare for the future." Gillette will begin on Feb. 8.
