Description

Adopted neutered male German shepherd in April 2022. Approx 3-4 years old. Been fully vetted, is UTD on hw & flea prevention. Needs his ears cleaned regularly to prevent infections but we have all sorts of stuff for him & he tolerates it ok. He is also good for nail clipping & brushing. We do it all several times a week. He has been extremely loved these past 6 months. He was originally adopted in hopes he would be my daughters emotional support dog. Her current dog was also adopted as an adult from the shelter & had been an perfect ESA for her for many years but the dog is 14 years old now & needs to retire from daily work. It’s obvious he was not properly socialized prior to me getting him. We try to take him everywhere but he is just not comfortable out in public. Loves car rides though. I loved him so very much that it didn’t matter to me he can’t do the job he was adopted for, we were keeping him anyways. However now our neighbor is afraid of him because he has recently went from barking at them to barking & lunging. So Now we are having to rehome him. We live on 20 acres, only myself & my neighbor but we are right on top of each other, no fence but he has never & will never be outside unleashed. We both rent so I dont have a choice. He knows multiple commands & is really the laziest shepherd I’ve ever known, he loves just chilling on the couch with me. He rings the bells on the door to tell me he has to go potty. Sit, down, off, shake, move, wait & leave it. Lets us brush his teeth. Just starting to figure out toys. Likes treats. He’s been very pampered & this breaks my heart but I can’t get evicted Just bought a $50 bag of food, $160 HW/flea prevent for 6 months. 2 dog beds, many collars, leashes, brushes, wipes, nail clippers, bowls, food storage bin, tons of treats & toys. I want a wonderful home for him with some who understands GSD & will give him time to trust you. He has never bit to my knowledge. he is just scared but not outright aggressive just doesn’t like to see the neighbors walk out in what he sees as our yard since we don’t have a fence - because of that I will require a 6foot privacy fence & a patient person who knows that while he can be taken out in public it’s not something he’s ever gonna really enjoy. He’d rather stay home. Would like a calm female dog friend but not necessary. Prefers no cats. I make it work with our cats but he is never left alone with them & we occasionally have to give a firm LEaave it when he decides to chase a running cat. No harm has ever come but idk that it couldn’t. He lives with a loud 12 year old autistic boy, is bonded with Mom of the home but will move or wait for boy so older kids ok but I think his preference would be no small kids, just based on him no liking the smaller kids next door to us. I also just bought a $100 dog DNA kit that should arrive in the mail any day. He appears pure bred GSD by looks & behavior traits but it’s always fun & this one gives a health report & family tree too so that will go with his new parent. I’ve easily spent $1,200 on him in the past 6 months, everything will go with him & the fee will be $500. I will deliver him within reason because a home check is required & must agree he will come back to me if it doesn’t work out. He is truly a GSD lover’s absolute dream dog & he deserves to stay in the home he is loved & cared for but I can’t lose my home over it & moving is not an option. Not in a huge rush so won’t go to anyone not worthy of him.
