Description
UPDATE: Since I originally placed this ad, I was able to put together a group that is made up of Keyboards, Lead Guitar and Rhythm Guitar with me on drums. All we need now to complete the band is a good Bass Guitar player. We have secured a practice space in Cary and have selected songs to start working on. This is starting a band from scratch and will take some time to be tight. Looking at this as a Winter project with hopes of starting to gig in the Spring and Summer of 2023. Contact me ASAP if you're seriously interested. My original Facebook ad... OK, here's my deal. I'm an experienced drummer (been playing drums in one form or another since I was 10 years old) looking to come out of retirement after 8 years of not playing. I'm currently working to get my timing and chops back. Previously did bar and corporate gigs playing 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's & some current Rock of all genre's. I NO LONGER WANT TO DO THAT! Now, I'm looking more to playing a more laid back, straight forward, Lower volume kind of early to mid 1960's British Invasion and American Rock and Roll. Examples are of course, The Beatles, Kinks, Animals, Hollies, Yard Birds, The Rolling Stones, Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, The Beach Boys, Creedence. You get the picture. Would love to jam with like minded senior musicians to jam with and possibly start a band playing mainly festivals, private party type gigs. Not totally opposed to bars but, dive bars are out. My equipment: I will selling my mid 2000's Rock size Gretsch New Classic 5 pc drum kit and will be playing a smaller 4 pc. Gretsch round badge from the early 60's (Think Charlie Watts), had them since I was 12 years old. I also have put together a very compact lower volume drum kit that uses a large suitcase as a bass drum (yes, that's right. It's the latest trend). Can be used for low volume super small band real-estate or street performances. My experiences: I've played drums since I was 10 years old and my dad was my drum instructor. I have played in Bagpipe Bands off and on over my entire life. I have played in Rock bands on and off over my entire life. I played in my high school's concert band as well as marching band. Over the last 10 years before retiring, I played with several classic rock bands in the Raleigh area mostly playing area bars and festivals. Thinking the ideal setup would be Lead Guitar, Rhythm Guitar, Bass Guitar, Keyboards & Drums. All or some must be good singers (I kind of suck but can do some backup vocals if needed) and/or, a really good lead singer. Anyone interested and willing to help or take the lead on this project and getting this thing off the ground would be perfect. Please reply back and we'll exchange info. Thanks, Ron
