Event description: Our current artist on display is Anna Whitted, an Appalachian artist based out of Bristol, VA. Her work explores pigment and texture to create an encompassing representation of Appalachia’s rich natural space. Whitted investigates metaphysical interpretations of the breath of Appalachia—the gentle hum of a forest, the haunting stillness when sitting atop a mountain, and the babbling brook in the distance on a quiet morning all whisper the same language. Presently, Whitted has an ongoing series of abstract interpretations of the zodiac signs in the works. This zodiac series has helped Whitted establish a better relationship with her practice. We have had the pleasure of having Anna’s works in our space for the past two months! Anna will be finishing her zodiac series by painting the final zodiac at her Artist Closing Reception on Friday, November 11th 5 pm - 6:30 pm. Her original works will be available for purchase along with some prints of a couple of sizes. Come meet Anna, hang out with us and support her work!
