These artists are known for their unique fusion of essential ties between Jazz, Blues, and Flamenco. Over the past two decades, Fanny has earned the role of one of the most important performers in the country and is recognized and celebrated by flamenco enthusiasts around the world. She continues to be an internationally sought-after choreographer and instructor of flamenco, with students and fans across the globe. She is known as one of the driving forces of flamenco today; an artist excelling in the full spectrum of flamenco, from the most traditional to the avant-garde. Fanny has been an invited artist in national and international festivals and has toured extensively in Canada, Central and South America, the Middle East, Africa, and throughout Europe. She has been distinguished since 2006 with nominations from the Isadora Duncan Dance Awards in the categories of Most Outstanding Individual Dancer, Most Outstanding Music, Ensemble, and Individual Performance for her project, Juncal Street, and Best Ensemble for her work with the San Francisco Opera in La Traviata. New York’s Vilcek Foundation also awarded Fanny a prestigious finalist prize for “Creative Promise in Dance” in 2012. Fanny’s versatility in the art form of flamenco is manifested in her many artistic works. As Philip Gardner said of her performance at the Joyce Theater in New York City “My newest love is Fanny Ara...the captivating expressive qualities of Fanny’s upper body mesmerized us while her footwork.” dazzled both the eye and the ear...she soared into the upper most echelon of dance artists I have witnessed over the years.” VARDAN OVSEPIAN is an Armenia-born pianist/composer,author and teacher whose studies include Yerevan State Conservatory, Estonian Music Academy, Helsinki Jazz Conservatory, and Berklee College of Music. Performs solo as well as with artists such as Mick Goodrick, Tim Miller, Peter Erskine, Jerry Bergonzi, David Binney and Tatiana Parra. Recent awards and publications include First Prize at the Achava Jazz Award (Erfurt, Germany - 2017), Chamber Music America Grant for New Jazz Works program funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation (New York, NY - 2017), and a release of Peter Erskine New Trio album “In Praise of Shadows”. ETHAN MARGOLIS was raised in a musical family out of Cleveland, OH, transitioning his singer-songwriter/ Punk Rock background to become a Flamenco guitarist at age 19. He spent the next 11 years immersed in the Gypsy/Roma circuit of Andalucía most specifically amongst the Pinini Family of Roma/Gypsy singers. With ith the desire to support roots Andalusian Roma Song (Cante Gitano Andaluz), Margolis premiered his Flamenco touring company 'Arte Y Pureza'', touring internationally for six years. Upon moving to Los Angeles, Margolis dedicated himself to further investigations of the essential ties between Jazz, Blues, and Flamenco. Margolis's first album release for a jazz quintet was in 2014 with Soleangeles and his second album, Sonikete Blues explored the similar spirits of Delta Blues and Flamenco rhythms. It was featured as an iTunes editor's choice in the contemporary Blues category and received high praise from producers like Ricardo Pachón (Camarón de la Isla) and Larry Cohn (Robert Johnson Anthology and Sony’s Roots n Blues series). Sonikete Blues was later rated by Spanish music critic, José Manuel Gómez, in the top 40 Flamenco fusion albums of all time. Margolis has continued to record and perform with a recent EP release in 2022 entitled En Madrid featuring Cuban virtuoso pianist, Caramelo de Cuba. He is currently working on an original trio album with bassist, Larry Grenadier and drummer, Eric Harland. Margolis is an endorsed artist for FISHMAN musical electronics.
