Habitat Restoration Foreman RECON Environmental is a small company of specialists representing one of the most established environmental consulting service firms in the Southwest. We are employee-owned and hard-working, but with a casual and collaborative work environment. We are looking to hire a Habitat Restoration Foreman to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will help facilitate the start-up of our new yard in the North County area. He/she will lead a crew of field technicians working in the Southern California area. The primary job function will be to ensure crew and all necessary supplies and equipment arrive to the job site each day, on time. Foreman should have the ability to motivate and mentor field crew, while maintaining a safe and professional work environment. Responsibilities/Duties include but are not limited to: • Project-specific assessments for task scheduling • Field Technician duties as required – planting, hand weeding, herbicide application, etc. • Weekly meetings • Project specific coordination of supplies and materials • Coordinate crew trainings • Yard and equipment management • Coordinate project specific equipment rentals and vendor orders/quote requests • Supervising installation projects/review specification packages • Job hazard analysis and reporting • Oversight of chemical use, reporting, inspections • Maintains and turns in accurate daily logs, including description of work performed and herbicide usage reports • Responsible for ensuring that equipment, supplies, and tools are stocked, organized, properly maintained, and in proper working condition • Report project and crew issues to the Field Director in a timely manner • Assist Field Director in responding to personnel matters within the field, including staff evaluations, staff supervision and training. Provide input for completion of annual performance reviews Minimum Requirements • 3+ years of Habitat Restoration or similar experience required • Excellent written and verbal skills • Detail oriented, with excellent organizational skills • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in varying terrain • Valid California driver license with a clean driving record over the last 3 years • Team oriented attitude • Ability to read construction plans • Ability to work out of town as necessary • Bilingual – English/Spanish • Proficient use of chainsaws, weed eaters, and similar equipment Additional qualifications a plus: • Native plant and construction knowledge • Irrigation skills are highly desirable • Ability to utilize mapping applications on phone or tablet like ARC Collector/CalFlora/Avenza • Experience managing several crews and projects simultaneously • Knowledgeable of specialty planting requirements, including the layout of habitat types and the planting of unique individual plant species $30.00+ DOE Vaccine Requirement: With employee and client health and safety a top priority, and as mandated by Executive Order 14042, Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors, all RECON current and future employees, regardless of job type must be vaccinated against COVID-19.
