Hello! I’m looking to help with farm chores in exchange for a partial horse "lease". What I can provide: -I'm looking to help with farm chores/manual labor. Breakfast/dinner feeding+turn in/out or grooming would be best, but I can also give medications or small maintenance tasks -I have the most availability on the weekend, and would probably only want to come out ~2 days a week to begin with- I could make myself more available for the right person. -I studied pre vet medicine at MSU and have 15+ years professional experience caring for domestic animals, livestock, and wildlife. I currently work at UofM doing research, but I also do wildlife biology fieldwork in the summers. I can send you my resume if needed. What I'm interested in: -The closer to Livonia (48152) the better. I'm looking to keep my commute under 25min one way due to current gas prices -Mainly I'm just looking to spend a few hours a week recreationally riding on my own. Ideally it'd be with a single horse that I could bond with and take care of, but if you need multiple horses exercised that could work too -I grew up eventing but had to stop riding regularly when I went off to college. After graduating in 2020, I'd really love to get back into the horse world. But I'm mainly looking for something recreational (at least to begin with) -I have some tack of my own, but the more you could provide the better- I grew up riding english but I have some western experience. I'll likely be a little rusty in the saddle to begin with, but I still rode occasionally in college so I'm not too worried -If you have trails or a large farm I could walk around that'd be ideal- I'm a huge naturalist! But arenas are totally fine too -As it's getting colder I'll likely prioritize places with some climate control/heating, but that's far from a requirement -I think the best fit for me would be someone with a small private farm (5 stalls or less) that is older or too busy to spend as much time as they'd like with their animals.
